Water distillation units may require more frequent cleaning than others. This is dependent on what type of unit you have. Sulfamic Acid is the most commonly used cleanser. This method is the best and makes the most financial sense.
Others prefer to use less acidic cleaners to clean their water distiller. Vinegar, which is milder and less acidic, can also be used. Descale your water distillation system every 3 to 4-months. Depending on your system, you might need to clean it earlier or later than the usual 3 to 4 months. It is important to empty the boiling water chamber once per week, in order for your system to work at its best.
Turn off the main power switch, then take the lid out of the boiling chamber. This will clean your water distiller. Next, add 2-3 tablespoons of descaler, Sulfamic Acid (or vinegar) to the boiling vessel. For about 5-10 seconds, stir the solution.
